Dashcam shows small plane in trouble before roadside crash

 

A small plane’s final wobbly moments in the air happen to be recorded by by the dasboard-mounted camera in the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office patrol car.

The crash happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. Sunday outside the city of Clearwater. According to a sheriff’s office Facebook posting, the two deputies were heading for another service call when they — and their dashcam — saw the plane flying very low over the road and swinging side to side.

The deputies headed for the crash scene and found that the pilot and his passenger were able to walk away from the downed aircraft unhurt.

 

According to TampaBay.com, the pilot of the single-engine, four-seat Rockwell Commander 112 indicated he was having engine trouble while returning to Clearwater Air Park from Zephyrhills Municipal Airport.

There were no injuries on the ground, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
