While these devices do not possess a lens so they can't be located with a lens viewfinder they do emit an RF signal that can be detected by the sensitive electronics in the Recon Pro.  The Recon Pro can detect a GSM signal from 2G - 4G and a WiFi signal from 2.4G-5GHZ.  While devices like computers, routers and your phone will normally emit these signals, the clock next to your nightstand should not, neither should the weather station nor a clock radio in the bathroom.  So if you suspect you are being bugged or you are staying at a vacation rental which generally has a very high probability of being bugged it's always a great idea to scan the area with a Recon Pro to make sure your privacy is not compromised. 

The Recon Pro has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that does not need to be recharged for up to 6 months, making the Recon Pro the most portable and travel-friendly hidden camera detector. One-touch operation allows anyone to use this counter-surveillance tool, no matter the skills or training.  Simply face the LED lights away from your face, place the viewfinder of the Recon Pro® to your eye, and scan the room.  The area will appear as a field of red and any hidden camera lens will appear as a bright flickering light. The Recon Pro® does not rely on any transmission frequency to detect a hidden camera, but rather the Recon Pro detects the curvature of the lens in the hidden camera itself.  This means that the Recon Pro® spy cam detector finds all of the hidden cameras in the room, no matter if they are turned on or not!
